Rayne Can't Fall Chapter 9

James took a left hand turn into the neighborhood.

He looked at the address scribbled down on a sketchbook page.

The boy smiled, recalling what he was here for

*Flashback*

"Dude," Freddie nudged him. "Go ask her out."

"I don't know…" James was unsure of the consequences to asking one of the most dangerous girls in
their whole school out on a date.

"Come on," Leon laughed. "What's the worst that could happen, man?"

"Dare you." Josh simply put.

"I really don't think this would be a good idea for a dare." James stared Josh down.

"Look, dude," Freddie interrupted. "If you're too sissy to as her out, I'm gonna do it for you, and I think we all know that shit's going down if I do."

James looked from Freddie to Josh to Leon and then gave up.

"Fine, but if she says no, I'm killing all of you." He sighed.

"Kay." Josh just grinned. James shook his head sadly, and then dragged himself out of the seat. Ana looked up at him then turned back to the papers on her desk. James plopped down in one of the desks in the back of the room, next to the dark girl. She looked up at the sound.

"Hey." He started. Rayne just blinked.

"Look, I'm sorry I tried to grab you yesterday," James tried. "I really didn't mean to do it, I understand
you kicking me down."

"It's fine." Rayne's crystal blue eyes sparkled a bit.

"Why don't I make it up to you?" James asked. "You wanna go see a movie tonight?"

"Are you asking me out?" Rayne sat up after a moment of silence.

"Uhm…n-no, ma-maybe…yeah sure." James stumbled.

"Okay," Rayne surprised him, even putting on a corky little smile. "Movie, 8 o' clock?"

"Sweet, I mean, what's your address?"

Rayne ripped a page of her sketch book and scribbled down something, handing it over to him.

*End flashback*

James smiled, watching as she walked over and opened the passenger door.

"Hey." His smile got bigger as she got in.

"Hey." Rayne nodded and James couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked. She had black fingerless gloves that went all the way to her elbows, and a dark blue T-shirt. She wore a short jean skirt and black tights with high tops that had red X's and white skulls.

"What movie are we seeing?" Rayne asked as they drove out of the street.

"I figured I'd let you choose," He admitted.

"Omg, there's one I really want to see," Rayne suddenly looked excited.

"Okay?" James chuckled.

"Nightmare on Elm Street." She told him in a serious voice.

"Oh," James nodded, he wasn't a big fan of horror movies. Sure he was okay with all the blood but most of them gave him the creeps.

"If you don't wanna see it, we don't have to." Rayne frowned.

"No, it's okay. This is a date," He smiled.

"Are you sure?" Rayne asked.

"Yes,"

"I don't want you having bad dreams over this." Rayne joked.

"Oh very funny!" James rolled his eyes. "So…"

"So…?"

"Why didn't you finish school yesterday?"

"Oh, well, I just didn't feel good." Rayne shrugged looking out the window.

"Right." James murmured.
